President Masisi off to attend Africa Down Under Conference

President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi on Saturday left for Australia to attend the annual Africa Down Under (ADU) Conference.

A press statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the conference will take place from Wednesday to Friday in Perth.

The ADU Conference is a leading forum aimed to promote Australian-African business and government relations and is also the largest African-focused mining event held outside Africa, the statement said. 

It further notes that President Masisi will give a keynote address at the official opening ceremony of the ADU Conference, prior to which, the President will have an opportunity to meet with the governor general of Australia in Canberra to discuss bilateral relations between Botswana and Australia. He will also pay a courtesy call on the governor of Western Australia in Perth. The release further states that while in Australia, Dr Masisi will also attend the Botswana-Australia Business Seminar.

And as part of the ongoing efforts to enhance cattle farming in Botswana, the President will tour Glencoe Farm in Gingin.

President Dr Masisi is accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Lemogang Kwape, Minister of Trade and Industry, Mmusi Kgafela, Minister of Minerals and Energy, Lefoko Moagi and a clutch of senior government officials. 

The President and his delegation will return to Gaborone Saturday, says the statement.
