Aim-listed Botswana Minerals has reported encouraging results from integrated geological and AI-enhanced initial exploration analysis across its copper prospecting licences in north-west Botswana.

The analysis has identified several target systems within the company’s licence areas, prospective for copper, silver, zinc, lead, nickel and cobalt.

Two principal exploration models have been defined, namely, anomalies with copper/silver/nickel/cobalt signatures, consistent with potential Besshi-type volcanogenic massive sulphide systems; and a continuous geochemical corridor extending over about 20 km, interpreted as consistent with Mississippi Valley-type (MVT) lead/zinc mineralisation.

In addition, hyperspectral analysis has identified iron oxide and clay alteration zones, which the company says may represent surface expressions of underlying hydrothermal systems. These zones are supported by copper, silver, cobalt and nickel signatures that are distinct from the lead/zinc-dominated MVT corridor elsewhere on the licences, Botswana Minerals points out. These early-stage results support the company’s AI-driven exploration strategy and will guide the next phase of work.

This will include geophysical surveys and further geochemical sampling with the objective of advancing priority targets towards drilling. Botswana Minerals holds an extensive land position of about 7 000 km² in the Damaran Belt, a region considered prospective for multiple mineral deposit styles, as well as high-priority diamond prospective licences, it highlights.

“The AI analysis of our database has continued to deliver insights. Further work has identified two large-scale mineral systems, one prospective for copper, the second for lead/zinc, which will focus our next phase of exploration as we advance towards defining drilling targets,” says chairperson John Teeling.
