African Bush Camps has opened Khwai Lediba, a luxury tented safari camp located along the Khwai River banks in Botswana’s Khwai Concession. The new camp, accommodating 16 guests, features environmentally friendly luxury tented rooms.
Accommodations include five double rooms, one honeymoon suite and one family suite. Each unit features an en suite bathroom with both indoor and outdoor showers. For an extra touch of luxury, the honeymoon and family units include a bathtub. Furthermore, each tent comes with a private deck equipped with daybeds.
The camp’s central building houses a pool, a dining area with an open kitchen, a large pizza oven and a bar. Guests can enjoy meals, cocktails and Champagne either indoors or al fresco on a deck surrounded by sycamore and leadwood trees overlooking the river.
The camp also features several decks and lounging areas, including a shaded and secluded pool and a fire pit on the lower deck.
Khwai Lediba, located near Moremi National Park, offers guests a front-row seat to the wildlife action in the oldest protected section of the Okavango Delta. This region is known for its diverse wildlife population, which includes lions, leopards, elephants and giraffes.
Guests can participate in various activities, such as morning, afternoon and nighttime game drives as well as walking and mokoro (canoe) safaris, when water levels are adequate.
The camp also facilitates visits to the nearby Khwai village preschool as part of the African Bush Camps Foundation’s community empowerment projects.
Khwai Lediba can be reached via a 30-minute flight from Maun Airport or a one-hour fixed-wing flight from Kasane Airport. Flights are then followed by a 45-minute game drive transfer to the camp from Khwai Airstrip.
Rates for 2023 begin at $434 per person, per night. The opening special includes a helicopter transfer between Khwai Lediba and Linyanti Bush Camp when a six-night combination stay is booked.
