His Excellency Dr. Mokgweetsi E.K.Masisi has been selected as the Peace Award recipient.
The Peace Award is given by the Belgium-based Women Political Leaders (WPL) in recognition of Botswana for being amongst the most peaceful countries in the world.
Botswana Ambassador to Belgium, Mmasekgoa Masire Mwamba handed the award to His Excellency this week. Ms.Masire Mwamba said Women’s Political Leaders is an international Non-Profit Organisation that was established in 2013, by the Vice President of the European Parliament who is also a young Global Leader Alumni of the World Economic Forum, Silvana Koch-Mehrin. She further said the organisation strives to promote the advancement of Women in politics globally.
On receiving the award, President Dr. Masisi said he was delighted that the award was received on his behalf by a female leader, and promised to continue to appoint more women to positions of leadership in the country.
