Desert & Delta Safaris to revamp Bots camps

Savute Safari Lodge.

Desert & Delta Safaris will focus on a number of refurbishments and upgrades to some of its luxury camps this year.

The most extensive work will be at Savute Safari Lodge in the heart of Botswana’s Chobe National Park. The lodge will close on October 15 for an extensive rebuild that will focus on maximising exposure to the permanent waterhole in front of the lodge.

The redesign will also draw on elements of the landscapes and the wildlife that make it home. The lodge is expected to reopen on June 1, 2024.

Savute Safari Lodge has eleven thatched chalets built from local timber, and one family room that has two double bedrooms.

The 12-room Leroo La Tau Lodge on the western bank of the Boteti River, which forms the boundary of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, is currently closed while it undergoes a complete revamp. It is expected to reopen on March 1. The new design and feel of the lodge will pay homage to the zebra migration that occurs along the Boteti River.

This month (February), Camp Moremi and Camp Okavango will also undergo soft revamps. Camp Okavango was closed and scheduled to reopen on February 13 while Camp Moremi will close on February 15 and reopen on March 1.
