Cobre Ltd (ASX:CBE) has identified several regional copper-silver targets at the Ngami Copper Project in the Kalahari Copper Belt (KCB) of Botswana with assay results from 2022 drilling demonstrating the potential for a district-scale copper system.
The company has dubbed these targets Helios, Interstellar, Luna, Nova and Satellite, three of which sit within the mineralisation halo of higher-grade KCB deposits and two which represent anomalous copper-silver results.
Comprehensive drilling programme
“The Ngami Copper Project (NCP) continues to produce significant results with several compelling new targets joining the fold,” Cobre CEO Adam Wooldridge said.
“Being able to rapidly identify, assess and progress these targets is key to unlocking the potential in this emerging new district on the northern margin of the KCB.
“We have initiated a comprehensive drilling programme in Botswana with the goal of fully assessing the district-scale copper potential.
“The next round of drilling at NCP will focus on further developing these targets in order to identify anticipated high-grade zones.
“In addition, our exploration plans for Kitlanya West include aircore drilling of initial soil sampling targets which is expected to commence at the end of March.
“We look forward to providing further exploration updates as they become available.”
Well funded
Cobre is well funded to pursue its exploration ambitions, holding some $11 million in cash as the company sets two diamond drill rigs in motion for a 5,000-metre exploration programme.
On a district scale, CBE intends to complete some 10,000 metres of aircore drilling, based on results from a soil sampling programme that provided a number of priority targets for investigation.
Cobre is confident in its exploration strategy given the quality of results so far and expects to rapidly deliver and advance copper-silver targets at Ngami in the coming months.
