Styling Hollywood is the new fashion reality show Netflix subscribers everywhere are talking about. It’s one cast member in particular, however, who’s made an impression and that is Melinda Elvenes.
Melinda Elvenes is introduced to Netflix viewers in the very first episode of Styling Hollywood. Alongside JSN Studio Operations Manager, Kafia and Jason Bolden’s styling assistant John, Melinda is described by company co-owner Adair Curtis as his “supermodel assistant”. Here’s all fans need to know about the reality TV star – from her stint as Miss Norway to her stylish Instagram page.
Who is Melinda Elvenes from Styling Hollywood?
Adair describes Melinda as his supermodel assistant who “helps with staging homes and interior design.” Melinda met Jason and Adair back in 2010 when looking for a modelling agent in LA. She had just been crowned as Miss Norway that year and wanted to settle down in Hollywood.
Melinda revealed in the series premiere she has a three-year-old son and sought out Adair to see if he needed help with the company for extra cash after welcoming her baby boy. She works predominantly with Adair and revealed in the Netflix series:
“Jason, I only see when he steals me to try on dresses and that’s about it.”
Throughout Styling Hollywood, Adair and Melinda show off their flawless eye for detail as they kit out a number of the USA’s biggest star’s homes. Away from the show, Melinda has enjoyed a wealth of success in her modelling career.
The 33-year-old even recently opened up about her modelling journey in a candid Instagram post last month. Alongside a photo of Melinda in an advert for Colgate toothpaste, she wrote:
“As a new model in NY it took time for me to find my place;
“I was either too short, too ‘thick’ (at the time), not pretty enough, or too pretty (for fashion).
“This @colgate job was one of my first big jobs, and it set the tone for me opening my eyes to the possibilities that lay ahead.
“I am forever grateful for all the opportunities I received and the lessons I learned during that time. #thejourneyisthegoal.”
On her public Instagram page (@m.elvenes), she often shares snaps from a number of her other shoots.
While Melinda’s emerged as a fan favourite from the eight episodes of season one, fans will undoubtedly want to see the entire gang from JSN Studio back for another series.
As such, calls for season two of Styling Hollywood are already flooding social media.
However, at this moment in time, Netflix is yet to renew or cancel the series.
So what’s Melinda’s link to Botswana?
Melinda Victoria Elvenes (born 1986 in Maun, Botswana ) was one of the two winners of the Miss Norway competition in 2010. She represented Norway in the Miss Universe final in Las Vegas, USA on August 23, 2010. The other winner who represented Norway in Miss World was Mariann Birkedal from Stavanger.
Melinda was born in the town of Maun to a Norwegian father and a Motswana mother. She moved to Larvik in 1998 and danced at Studio Nille for several years. Elvenes completed a bachelor’s degree in Development Theory while also working as a model and waitress. Elvenes was the first woman of African origin to win the Miss Norway competition.
