Business Botswana (BB) has relaunched its China Representative Office (BB-CHINA) in a renewed push to strengthen trade and investment ties between Botswana and China.

The announcement was made by BB president Neo Nwako during a high-level roundtable held alongside the 4th China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in China’s Hunan province.

Nwako described the office as a “strategic hub” for commercial engagement, highlighting Botswana’s investor-friendly environment and opportunities in renewable energy, agriculture, mining and digital innovation. The relaunch marks a strategic step in Botswana’s efforts to attract Chinese investment and promote long-term economic cooperation.

BB-CHINA will serve as a dedicated liaison for Chinese investors, offering business support services, facilitating government-to-business dialogue and enhancing Botswana’s visibility in the Chinese market. The office has previously played a key role in facilitating Botswana beef exports to China and attracting high-quality Chinese enterprises.

The relaunch took place during the Botswana Investment and Business Promotion Government-to-Business High-Level Roundtable Forum. The roundtable forum brought together over 150 delegates, including more than 80 enterprises from both countries.

Senior officials in attendance included Botswana’s Trade and Entrepreneurship Minister Tiroeaone Ntsima, and Water and Human Settlement Minister Onneetse Ramogapi. In his keynote address, Ramogapi reaffirmed the Botswana government’s commitment to partnering with China in sectors aligned with green growth and smart infrastructure.

“Botswana is ready to work closely with China in building a greener, more inclusive future,” he said.

Several cooperation agreements were signed during the forum, covering renewable energy, agricultural technology, smart manufacturing and logistics. The event also commemorated 50 years of diplomatic relations between Botswana and China.
