Bangladesh’s Foreign Secretary Ambassador Md. Jashim Uddin yesterday confirmed the conclusion of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)on contract farming with Botswana.
He made the remarks while nonresident Botswana High Commissioner to Bangladesh Gilbert Shimane Mangole paid a courtesy call on him at the foreign ministry in Bangladesh, said the country’s foreign ministry’s press release.
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the friendly relations between Bangladesh and Botswana and praised the role of the young generation in driving recent positive political changes in their respective countries.
Ambassador Mangole invited Bangladeshi investments in agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing sectors, including Ready-Made Garments.
The Foreign Secretary emphasised the cooperation between the Chambers of Commerce of both countries to facilitate business interactions.
He also highlighted opportunities for enhanced educational collaboration and researcher exchanges, particularly in agriculture between the two countries.
The Foreign Secretary sought Botswana’s support in the repatriation of Rohingyas to their homeland Myanmar and briefed the High Commissioner on Bangladesh’s plan to organise a High-Level Conference on Rohingya next year.
Both sides agreed to facilitate more high-level visits and expedite the signing of an MoU to hold bilateral consultations shortly, addressing a wide range of bilateral issues to advance cooperation.
