Mount Burgess Mining targets new gallium and germanium exploration within Nxuu deposit, Botswana

10 August 2023

Mount Burgess Mining (ASX:MTB) has reported an exploration target relating to gallium and germanium for its Nxuu Polymetallic deposit in Botswana, with further exploration work on the way.

The zinc-lead-silver-germanium and vanadium-focused company reports the exploration target is based on the results of exploration activities conducted to date and references an extensive dataset of historical drilling, geological, and geophysical information, which includes recent exploration data acquired by Mount Burgess.

The upper range of the gallium and germanium exploration target sits at 8 million tonnes at 12 parts per million (ppm) gallium and 3 ppm germanium, with a lower range of 4 million tonnes at 9 ppm gallium and 2 ppm germanium.

Mount Burgess says the potential quantity and grade of the Nxuu exploration target is conceptual in nature, and there has been insufficient exploration to estimate a mineral resource.

Nevertheless, Mount Burgess says the average depth to the base of the gallium and germanium mineralisation and exploration target is about 43m below the nature surface, with a maximum depth of 65m.

The company is currently compiling further data to show the ‘significance’ of the gallium and germanium extensions, which will be released to the market once complete.

The company plans to conduct drilling work within the new exploration target as conditions permit, though Mount Burgess says it is uncertain if the additional exploration will result in the estimation of a mineral resource.

Mount Burgess Mining is an ASX-listed explorer currently developing the Kihabe and Nxuu deposits in Botswana. The Kihabe Project lies in Western Ngamiland on the border of Namibia.
