Tlou Energy begins to connect Lesedi Power Project to Botswana power grid

Work on the transmission line is scheduled for completion in mid-2023, with the sale of electricity starting in the second half of next year. Tlou Energy Ltd (AIM:TLOU, ASX:TOU, BSE:TLOU) said construction has started on the transmission line to connect the Lesedi Power Project to the Botswana power grid.

A 100km, 66kV transmission line, capable of carrying up to 25MW of power, and supporting substations are required to connect Tlou’s gas field and proposed generation site to the grid. Work on the transmission line is scheduled for completion in mid-2023, with the sale of electricity starting in the second half of next year.

“We are firmly on track to becoming a regional power producer in a market with a huge power demand and at a time where worldwide demand for gas and cleaner energy is growing significantly,” said Tlou’s CEO, Tony Gilby.

Zismo Engineering Pty Ltd have completed their preliminary work and bush clearing of the route is underway. Zismo has also started to procure equipment, which will be delivered in batches, with the first delivery of wooden poles expected next month.

The erection of poles will be performed in sections with work on the Serowe end of the line beginning at the end of June.
