The Kuru Art Project is a unique community development project involving Naro and Dcui artists in the Kalahari desert of Botswana. It is located in D’Kar, western Botswana and was established in 1991. The project forms part of the Kuru Development Trust, a grass roots, self-development organisation of the San in Botswana. “Kuru” is a Naro word meaning “do” or “create”. Over the years the artists have received substantial acclaim from exhibitions held throughout the world.
