Eastport Critical Metals CEO Daniel Major joined Steve Darling from Proactive to discuss the company’s diversified critical minerals portfolio in Botswana, recent rare earth drilling results and plans to advance its uranium, copper and nickel projects through 2026 and into 2027.
Major highlighted Botswana’s established mining industry, infrastructure and government support for mineral development. Eastport Critical Metals has six projects covering five commodities, with its portfolio focused on minerals that could benefit from growing global electrification and demand for critical raw materials.
A major focus is the company’s large-scale uranium project in northern Botswana, where an exploration target covering almost 300 square kilometres has been identified. Gravity surveys and additional geophysical work are underway to refine targets ahead of a drilling programme expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027.
The company is also advancing its rare earth project near Gaborone, where recent drilling returned an intersection exceeding 330 metres at 0.21% rare earths. Major said further assay results are pending as Eastport evaluates the scale and continuity of the mineralization and determines the next phase of exploration.
At its nickel-copper project near the Selebi mine, soil sampling has identified correlations between nickel-copper anomalies and the underlying geology.
Eastport plans to conduct additional electromagnetic surveys to help define potential drilling targets.
Major said the company is continuing to evaluate opportunities across its broader portfolio while prioritising its larger-scale projects. Depending on the development requirements of individual assets, potential strategies could include joint ventures, asset sales or spinning projects into separate companies.
Looking ahead, Major pointed to growing interest in rare earths and copper from both companies and governments, while also highlighting the potential for renewed investor attention toward uranium as global demand for critical minerals continues to grow.
Eastport’s diversified approach is designed to give the company exposure to multiple critical mineral markets while allowing it to advance projects according to their individual exploration and development potential.
