Five years after the official opening of the iconic Kazungula Bridge, today in Kasane, Botswana and Zambia formalised a powerful symbol of regional cooperation with the signing of the agreement establishing the Kazungula Bridge Authority.
The two governments agreed to sponsor the construction and operation of the Bridge Infrastructure and host the Kazungula Bridge Authority on Botswana side while Zambia will retain the Executive Director position.
The Authority will ensure sustainable operations, long-term maintenance and continued growth of one of Africa’s most strategic trade links.
Botswana was represented by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Noah Salakae, while Hon. Eng. Charles Lubasi Milupi, Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, signed on behalf of Zambia. The launch of the Kazungula Bridge Authority (KBA) today marks a transformative step in deepening regional integration and accelerating economic development across Southern Africa.
The Authority will ensure sustainable operations, long-term maintenance and continued growth of one of Africa’s most strategic trade links.
