SI6 Metals (SI6) has released an update on its drilling operations at its projects in WA and Botswana. The exploration company announced it had commenced a reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at its Monument Gold Project, near Laverton, WA.

The program will consist of 34 holes for 4375 metres, with 13 holes to be drilled at the project’s Waihi Prospect. The other 21 holes are being planned for the Korong Prospect, specifically targeting down-plunge extensions to known mineralisation. All up, the drill program at Monument will take between three or four weeks to complete before samples are sent off to a lab in Kalgoorlie.

Meanwhile, drilling continues at the Maibele Base and Precious Metals Project in Botswana. The materials stock completed a diamond drill hole for 550 metres at Maibele North over the weekend. The hole was designed to test for the continuation of nickel sulphide mineralisation previously intersected during historical drilling. Pleasingly, SI6 said site geologists have visually inspected the drill core and noted promising occurrences of sulphide minerals from 450 metres onwards.

“The confirmation of the continuation of the nickel sulphide horizon towards the NE is of great exploration significance for Si6 and paves the way for the company to search for further occurrences of massive sulphides in a target area that is open in all directions,” SI6 said in a statement.

Next steps for the exploration company involve undertaking electromagnetic surveying at Maibele to identify offhole conductors.

In a reserved market open on Monday, shares in SI6 Metals are trading down 18% at 3 cents each at 11:54 am AEDT.
