Vee Mampeezy nominated for AFRIMMA 2020 Awards

Botswana’s multi-award-winning artist, “Vee Mampeezy” Sento is up for the Best Male in Southern Africa Award at next month’s AFRIMMA 2020 music awards.

The African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) is the sole award in the diaspora that caters for all musical genres including but not limited to Afrobeats, Assiko, Bongo, Decale, Funana, Genge, Highlife, Hiplife, kwaito, Lingala and Soukous. The 7th Edition of the AFRIMMAs will take place on November, 15th 2020 in Dallas, Texas, USA. With the COVID-19 pandemic still raging, this year, fans across Africa will be treated to a virtual show under the them “Destination Africa”. 

Who is Vee Mampeezy?

The pocket-sized Kwaito sensation known to his fan as Vee Mampeezy or simply Vee, was born Odirile Sento 37 years ago in Hukuntsi. Vee grew up almost entirely in Hukuntsi and Gaborone, Botswana. With a clutch of awards under his belt, the deeply religious star has enjoyed two decades’ success in the music industry.

“My first album was released under Black Money Makers before I moved on to Eric Ramco. The company made me who I am and it was always my dream to grow it into something big,” the diminutive Kwaito star-turned record label executive says.

Last year, Vee’s video for his highly addictive hit single, “Dumalana” became the most viewed music video in Botswana.

African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) is the sole award ceremony in the diaspora that caters to all musical genres including but not limited to Afrobeats, Assiko, Bongo, Decale, Funana, Genge, Highlife, Kwaito, Lingala and Soukous. On the 26th of July, 2014 at the Eiseman Center, Dallas, Texas, history was made as the first edition of the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) was launched. It was a night of celebration of African music and the best of African music talent.

This year’s AFRIMMA Awards, the 7th since they launched, will be held at The House of Blues in Dallas, Texas and streamed live due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. AFRIMMA is committed to writing the African music story and showcasing it on the world map.
