Ghana think tank, IMANI interviews Botswana’s Bogolo Kenewendo

From Switzerland… Meet Hon. Bogolo Kenewendo, Minister for Investment, Trade and Industry of Botswana. She is 31 years of age. She is part of the faculty for the Students Symposium here at St. Gallen University here in Switzerland. She is the youngest MP in the Botswana Parliament. She is also the Parliamentary Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence, Justice & Government Assurances.

I went interviewing her about what sets her country apart from the rest of Africa when it comes to good governance, anti-corruption and economic freedom. She gave me great Insights including ideas she picked while working in Ghana with two trade ministers, Spio Grabrah and Alan Kyeremanteng. And oh, she knew so much about me and IMANI I was even embarrassed!

Apparently, she reached out twice to meet me in Ghana to discuss IMANI reports on business reform and wanted further ideas, and I was unavailable. She is implementing them in Botswana now. BOTSWANA is the 34th least corrupt country in the world out of 180 countries ranked. It is the least corrupt country in Africa. Ghana is the 81st least corrupt country in the world out of 180 countries ranked. Botswana is the 81st best country to do business with out of 190 countries ranked on the Doing Business index of the World Bank. Ghana is 120th out of 190 countries ranked. Botswana has 63 members of parliament with a population of 2 million. Lesotho has the same population but 100 members of parliament. Just saying…
