President Ian Khama reshuffles cabinet

President Ian Khama has carried out a reshuffle of his Cabinet, bringing in four new faces and splitting up two ministries. The former Ministry of Education and Skills Development has been divided into Basic Education and Tertiary Education, Research, Science and Technology. Meanwhile Water Resources has been separated from the Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources and is now part of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services.

The new portfolios are as follows:

Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration
Minister – Eric M. Molale
Assistant Minister -Thato Kwerepe

Defence, Justice and Security
Minister – Mr. Shaw Kgathi

Agricultural Development and Food Security
Minister – Patrick P. Ralotsia
Assistant Minister – Kgotla Autlwetse

Infrastructure and Housing Development –
Minister – Nonofo Molefhi

Ministry of Basic Education
Minister – Unity Dow
Assistant Minister – Mr. Moiseraele Goya

Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism
Minister – Tshekedi Khama

Finance and Economic Development
Minister – Mr. Ontefetse K. Matambo

International Affairs and Cooperation
Minister – Dr. Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi

Ministry of Health and Wellness
Minister – Dorcus Makgato
Assistant Minister – Dikgang P. Makgalemele

Employment, Labour Productivity and Skills Development
Minister – Tshenolo Mabeo

Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services
Minister – Prince Maele
Assistant Minister – Itumeleng Moipisi
